Choose large deep pots, they allow the plant roots to develop and mean less frequent watering. Place the containers in a sheltered position, out of the wind, but still in direct sunlight. |

Keep drainage holes free from blockage. Put ‘old crocks’ or grit in the bottom of pots before adding the potting mix. Drainage can also be improved by standing containers slightly off the ground on half bricks, clay pot feet, or something similar. |

Where suggested some of our species can be sown directly into ornamental containers. We recommend using a mix of soil-less compost and fine grit (75:25), to provide ideal drainage. Add a small amount of slow release fertiliser like fish, blood and bone to give the plants a cracking start to life. |
